About Jeffrey Breit

Jeffrey Breit grew up in the Tidewater area of Virginia in a family where his father, brothers, and wife all practiced law. While still in college, he worked with a federal court judge in New Orleans, an experience that set the course of his career. In 1988, he left the firm where his father had practiced and co-founded Breit, Drescher & Breit with Jack Drescher, a firm that later became Breit Drescher Imprevento and is now Breit Biniazan. The firm has always focused exclusively on representing injured victims. Breit served as president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association from 1998 to 1999 and has taught trial advocacy as an adjunct professor at William & Mary Law School and on faculty at Harvard and Columbia law schools. Following the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, he was appointed to the plaintiff steering committee in MDL 2179 and led the case against Halliburton, securing a $1.24 billion settlement after trial. He also managed the nationwide Chinese drywall litigation against Taishan Gypsum, which settled all U.S. cases for $248 million in 2019. He is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates and has been named a Virginia Super Lawyer every year since 2006, including Top 10 in the state from 2020 through 2024.
