Mera Matthews

As an experienced and creative litigator, Mera Matthews represents clients in civil trials, administrative proceedings, and appeals. Mera’s clients are often professionals, and she is skilled at navigating professional licensing investigations and administrative hearings. Accustomed to providing representation in connection with traumatic events, Mera’s clients include police officers involved in critical response events, people wrongly accused of misconduct, and victims of sexual assault. Mera also specializes in elder law, successfully representing families and facilities in dozens of guardianship and conservatorship cases statewide. Mera began her legal career in 2004 at the United States District Court for the District of Alaska as a law clerk for the Honorable James K. Singleton and later for the Honorable Timothy M. Burgess.

Subsequently, Mera worked as a trial attorney at the Office of Public Advocacy, representing clients charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses. Mera obtained not guilty verdicts for numerous clients charged with misdemeanor and felony level assaults, property crimes, and controlled substance offenses. Mera is a lifelong Alaskan. Prior to practicing law, Mera held a 100 Ton Near Coastal Master’s License and skippered inspected passenger vessels on Kachemak Bay.
