About Gary Hays

Gary Martin Hays founded the Law Offices of Gary Martin Hays & Associates, P.C. in 1993 after spending the early part of his career defending insurance companies in personal injury, product liability, and wrongful death claims. That experience gave him a practical understanding of how insurers evaluate and resolve cases, which he now uses on behalf of injured Georgians. Over more than 36 years of practice, he has recovered more than $1 billion in settlements and verdicts for personal injury, wrongful death, workers' compensation, and inadequate security clients. He is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a multi-year Super Lawyers designee as voted by peers in Georgia, and has been named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Georgia by the American Trial Lawyers' Association since 2007.

Lawdragon listed him among the leading Plaintiffs' Lawyers in America. He is a 17-time bestselling author and five-time Quilly Award recipient whose legal books on Georgia injury law are available free to the public. He has served on the State Bar of Georgia's Advertising Committee and has lectured at the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association on personal injury practice management and advertising. His law firm videos have been viewed more than 21 million times on YouTube.

A 2002 Dodge Ram 15-passenger van carrying 16 women from the We Are Living Proof sober-living program rolled over and caught fire on I-85 at the I-985 split in Gwinnett County on April 24, 2021, killing seven and injuring nine others. Families and survivors sued the van's driver, Chrysler and parent company Stellantis, the group home, and two repair shops, alleging a rollover-prone design, a defective steering system, and a fuel system that let gasoline ignite after impact. The claims settled in 2024 for a combined $162,000,000, described as the largest settlement from a single-vehicle wreck in Georgia history. Families and survivors were represented by several firms, including Shiver Hamilton Campbell and Beasley Allen.
