About Benjamin Gideon
Ben Gideon is a founding partner of Gideon Asen LLC and a nationally recognized plaintiff's trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice and complex personal injury cases. He grew up in Portland, Maine, attended Cornell University, and earned his J.D. from Yale Law School after transferring from Boston University. Following law school, he clerked for Judge Kermit V. Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, then practiced at Latham and Watkins in New York City before spending 17 years at a leading Maine plaintiff's firm. In November 2020, he co-founded Gideon Asen LLC. In 25 years of representing injured victims, Ben has accumulated more than $300 million in total verdicts and settlements. In October 2025, he obtained a $25 million verdict in a medical malpractice case, the largest personal injury verdict in Maine history. He also won a $22.5 million verdict in Vermont and, between 2024 and 2026, helped settle three trucking cases for over $10 million each, with total settlements exceeding $70 million. He is only the second lawyer in Maine history inducted into the Inner Circle of Advocates and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He hosts two podcasts, including Elawvate: The Trial Lawyer Podcast, and teaches at Maine Law School.
