Matt Dwyer

Matt Dwyer spent over a decade as an Assistant District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District of Sedgwick County, Kansas, trying more than 60 cases and earning two commendations from the Wichita Police Department, before joining Hutton & Hutton in 2019. His civil practice covers wrongful death, medical malpractice, surgical errors, nursing home negligence, car accidents, truck and train collisions, civil rights violations under 42 U.S.C. 1983, sexual abuse claims, and Military Claims Act matters. He holds dual B.A. degrees in English (with honors) and History from the University of Kansas (2002) and a J.D. from the University of Kansas (2005).

Shortly after joining the firm, he was appointed co-lead counsel in national opioid litigation on behalf of the City of Wichita, resulting in a multi-million dollar recovery for the city. In 2021, he successfully obtained military medical malpractice compensation for a U.S. Army Sergeant under the Military Claims Act, one of only 12 such claims approved nationally at that time. In 2022, he secured wrongful conviction compensation for Larry L. Lucas, who had been wrongfully imprisoned under a law later deemed unconstitutional. He was named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 in 2023.
