About Gene Hagood
Gene S. Hagood is the founder of the Law Offices of Gene S. Hagood in Alvin, Texas, where he represents victims of serious and catastrophic personal injury and their families in wrongful death matters. His practice covers truck accidents, car accidents, construction accidents, oil and gas accidents, defective products, premises liability, medical malpractice, and toxic torts, with roughly 99 percent of his work devoted to litigation. Hagood is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He earned his J.D. with high honors from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1977, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and served on the Texas Tech Law Review board of editors, and he holds a B.B.A. with honors from Texas Tech University.
He served as president of the Galveston Trial Lawyers Association from 1989 to 1990 and sits on the national advisory board of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. He was named a Texas Super Lawyer from 2003 through 2013 and is an Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates. In December 2013 he and co-counsel won a $281 million wrongful death verdict in Dimmit County against Heckmann Water Resources on behalf of the family of an Army veteran killed when a drive shaft broke off an 18-wheeler and crashed through his windshield, one of the largest verdicts of its kind in Texas.
