Joshua Ostler

Joshua “Josh” Ostler is a partner at Mortensen & Milne whose practice focuses on high-stakes personal injury litigation and appellate advocacy, in Utah and nationwide. He is known for his ability to analyze complex legal issues, develop persuasive arguments, and protect client victories both at trial and on appeal. Josh’s legal career centers on standing up for individuals against powerful entities, including corporations, insurers, financial institutions, and government bodies. His background spans personal injury, civil rights litigation, and appeals, giving him a comprehensive perspective that strengthens litigation strategy at every phase. Before entering private practice, Josh clerked at the Utah Court of Appeals, gaining firsthand insight into judicial decision-making and appellate standards.

He has since argued and won appeals in both state and federal courts, reinforcing his role as a critical asset in complex litigation where post-trial advocacy can determine the ultimate outcome. Josh earned his Juris Doctor from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. He is admitted to practice in Utah state courts, the U.S. District Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
