Glenn Kushel

In 2005, Glenn was elected President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. During his term, he and other Executive Committee members worked to restructure the Association to place a greater emphasis on legislative efforts and outreach. He previously was the legislative chair for the organization and chaired the Professional Negligence Section of GTLA. He recently was awarded the President's Award for recent legislative efforts to fight tort reform at the legislature.

Glenn is a native Floridian and grew up in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area. Glenn attended the University of Florida for undergraduate and law school. He was on the Honor Court while in law school and was an active member of the Moot Court Team. He graduated from law school with honors.

Glenn began practicing law in 1988 as a defense lawyer with the litigation and trial law firm of Long, Weinberg, Ansley & Wheeler. He primarily represented physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice actions. In 1993, Glenn began a plaintiff's practice with the firm of Mills & Moraitakis. In 1995, he was named a partner and the firm eventually became Moraitakis & Kushel, LLP. Throughout his career, Glenn has successfully tried and resolved many medical malpractice and other injury cases.

He has resolved cases for both 7 figures and 8 figures in many different types of malpractice cases. He and his then partner Nick Moraitakis argued the case of Keenan v. Plouffe to the Georgia Supreme Court. Glenn obtained a favorable verdict in a 'no-offer' medical malpractice surgical case in the amount of $4,085,000. Glenn has also obtained record settlements involving physicians at the Medical College of Georgia related hospitals including a $7.82 million recovery for a patient rendered brain damaged.

Glenn has successfully litigated and/or tried cases against orthopedists, surgeons, cardiologists, pediatricians, obstetrician-gynecologists, anesthesiologists, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, radiologists and other medical specialists. He has a particular interest in nursing home abuse and neglect cases. He has also handled many serious trucking, automobile and premises liability cases. Glenn has presented at seminars and authored papers and articles concerning medical malpractice, Georgia civil practice, nursing home cases, civil justice system and so called 'tort reform'.

He also co-authored a book on the Civil Justice System and combatting tort reform efforts. Glenn is married with two children. Glenn's interests include spending time with his family, golf, fitness and boating.
