Scott Chafin Law is the current name of the Shreveport plaintiffs' personal injury practice previously known as Gregorio, Chafin, Johnson & Tabor, LLC (the older gcj-law.com domain now redirects to scottchafinlaw.com). The firm has represented injured Louisianans since 1978 and is led by Scott J. Chafin, Jr., a past President of the Louisiana Association for Justice who has managed the firm since 2014. Its practice covers oilfield injury, 18-wheeler and auto collisions, construction injury, maritime and offshore claims, traumatic brain injury, burn injury, spinal and orthopedic injury, and wrongful death, with offices in Shreveport and Baton Rouge. Published firm results include a jury verdict of more than $23.5 million in an oilfield personal injury case, described by the firm as the largest oilfield jury verdict in Caddo Parish, a $23 million wrongful death and survival settlement, a $10 million workplace injury settlement, and a $7.5 million product liability result.

$2,000,000 cast to the motel ($4,000,000 verdict, 50 percent of the fault assessed to the motel and the rest to the murderer)Verdict

Lynda Palmer, 75, was working the night shift at the front desk of the Best Western Plus DeSoto Inn & Suites in Mansfield, Louisiana on April 12, 2021 when she was shot and killed in a robbery. The card reader that controlled entry to the hotel was broken, and although the surveillance cameras recorded the entire crime, nobody was monitoring them. On February 21, 2025 a DeSoto Parish jury awarded her two adult daughters $2,000,000 each and assessed 50 percent of the fault to the motel, leaving $2,000,000 cast to it.
