About Matthew White

Matthew White was born and raised in Louisville and has spent more than two decades representing individuals and small businesses against large corporations in catastrophic personal injury and complex litigation. He earned his law degree from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville on a full academic scholarship, finishing in the top 5 of his class while working more than 40 hours a week. He began his legal career at a firm focused on medical malpractice before starting his own firm at age 28, eventually co-founding Gray & White Law with Mark Gray. Matt has obtained numerous seven- and eight-figure recoveries for individual clients and has been part of plaintiff teams with recoveries exceeding $1 billion. In 2024, a Jefferson County jury returned a $163,973,761 verdict on behalf of Jilianne Warner, a quadriplegic woman injured when a GEICO roadside assistance tow truck rear-ended her vehicle at a Louisville intersection in 2017.

That award is the largest compensatory damage verdict for a single plaintiff in Kentucky history. Matt has served as lead counsel in class actions certified in both state and federal courts and as a member of plaintiffs' steering committees in multiple MDL proceedings. He holds the 2023 Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year designation for Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions, a Kentucky Super Lawyer rating, and a Lawdragon 500 listing. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Kentucky.
