Jarvis Harris

Jarvis T. Harris is an attorney at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, with more than 23 years of experience in workers' compensation, personal injury, and Social Security Disability law. He joined the firm in 2023 and is based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Harris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994 (recipient of the Joseph E. Pogue Scholarship full academic scholarship and a North Carolina Fellow) and his Juris Doctor from the UNC School of Law in 1997.

He is admitted to the North Carolina Bar and is fluent in Spanish.

Harris is a member of North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Greensboro Bar Association.

His honors include Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity 2005 National Alumni Brother of the Year and the UNC MLK Jr. Award. He served as the first African American male Board Chair of Guilford Technical Community College (also the youngest Board Chair in school history).

He has published "Survey and Discussion of North Carolina State Bar Ethics Opinions About Workers' Compensation Issues" (19th Annual NC Workers' Compensation Educational Conference, 2024), the Social Security Disability Bootcamp CLE (National Business Institute, 2012), and "Reliability, Certainty, Possibility & Probability: An Update on Causation in Workers' Compensation Cases" (NC Bar Association CLE, 2004).

Notable case work includes Adams v. Metals USA, 168 N.C. App. 469 (2005).
