Derek Debus

Derek Debus is a military and criminal defense lawyer focused on military law, veterans' benefits, and criminal defense. He attended the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, where he graduated with distinction for pro bono service, was recognized as a Trial Advocacy Fellow, served as a Staff Editor on law review, and captained a mock trial team. He earned CALI awards in Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and other subjects, and was named a Willard H. Pedrick Honors Scholar. Before entering private practice, Derek worked for the Crown Prosecution Service in London on cases ranging from assault to terrorism, and prosecuted cases at the third-largest prosecutorial agency in the country.

He is a service-connected disabled Marine Infantry veteran and a former professional law enforcement firearms instructor. Derek serves on the Board of Directors for Academe Grove, a nonprofit dedicated to school safety, and is a director of Bullshido, a media organization focused on debunking misinformation in science and governance. He is admitted to practice in multiple state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
