Matthew Bissette

Matthew Bissette is an attorney at Whitley Law Firm in North Carolina. His practice focuses primarily on workers' compensation, with additional work in product liability, mass torts, motor vehicle accidents, and slip-and-fall cases. He has developed a broad litigation background and has appeared in both North Carolina Superior and District Courts.

Before focusing on workers' compensation, Bissette clerked for judicial officers at the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

He earned his B.A. with a double major in Political Science and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015, and his Juris Doctor from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2018. He was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2018.

He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ NEXT Leadership Program 2022), the Wake County Bar, and the North Carolina Bar Association.

Bissette has been recognized as a Rising Star by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly (2021, 2023-2025), in Best Lawyers Ones to Watch in America (2021-2026), and as Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers (2021, 2024, 2025). He was featured in Attorney at Law Magazine in 2026.
