Edward Blackmon Jr.

Edward Blackmon, Jr. is a graduate of Tougaloo College, where he earned a degree in Political Science, and The George Washington University Law Center, where he received his Juris Doctor. In 1989, he and his wife, Barbara Blackmon, established Blackmon & Blackmon, PLLC in Canton, creating a firm rooted in long-term client relationships and consistent legal representation. Clients often come in facing serious legal challenges, from injury claims to criminal charges, and need guidance they can rely on without hesitation. His decades of litigation experience provide the clarity and direction people need when the stakes are high.

Edward Blackmon, Jr. has extensive experience representing clients in personal injury and product liability cases, including some of the largest verdicts returned by Mississippi juries. His work also includes representing major corporate defendants in complex litigation involving business disputes, banking matters, and white-collar defense. Over the course of his criminal defense practice, he has handled numerous trials, providing strategic defense in serious cases.

This combination of plaintiff and defense-side experience allows him to approach cases with a deeper understanding of how they are built and challenged. He served as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives for 41 years, including as Chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus, and is an emeritus trustee of Tougaloo College's Board of Trustees.
