About Nicholas Motherway

Nicholas T. Motherway is a highly experienced attorney having received numerous verdicts and settlements in plaintiffs' medical malpractice, product liability, and personal injury law. He also has extensive experience in the area of nursing home neglect and abuse. Among Motherway's notable cases demonstrate his depth and breadth of experience: a $7.5 million settlement in a motorcyclist accident who was rendered a quadriplegic, a $3 million settlement in a wrongful death medical malpractice case and a $1.6 million settlement for a brachial plexus birth injury in DuPage County are among his recent notable cases in the area of plaintiffs' personal injury litigation. Prior to his working at a Chicago plaintiffs' personal injury firm for nearly 20 years, Motherway was an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney (1997-2003) where he served in the Torts, Civil Rights, Child Support, and Misdemeanor divisions.

Motherway has been named a Leading Lawyer since 2019. He is a 1997 graduate of DePaul University College of Law and received a B.S. in economics from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1993. Motherway has been very active in various bar associations including the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA), the Chicago Bar Association (CBA) and the Tort Law Section Council and Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).
