Jason J. Sigel

Jason Sigel has spent nearly two decades representing people catastrophically injured , or families who lost a loved one , through the negligence of others. His practice is devoted exclusively to plaintiffs' personal injury and wrongful death litigation, and he takes the same approach to every case: prepare it as if it's going to trial, because that's often the only way to get a client what they're actually owed. That approach has produced some of the largest verdicts in the region's history. As an associate, Jason obtained a $3.7 million personal injury verdict in Frisk v. Cowan , still the record personal injury verdict in Amador County , after the defendant's insurer refused to pay even the $250,000 policy limits.

He was named Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association's Advocate of the Year for the result, the only associate in DBBWC's history to receive that recognition. He later obtained a $2.9 million verdict for a young woman rear-ended by a commercial vehicle after rejecting a $350,000 settlement offer, and helped secure a combined $22.7 million verdict and settlement in Barber v. Mossy Ford , at the time, the largest wrongful death compensatory recovery in San Diego County history. Jason's cases have also driven changes beyond the courtroom.

In Dickson v. Heavenly Valley , a four-year fight involving more than 125 depositions, he and his partner required the resort to overhaul its chairlift safety practices as a condition of settlement. In Barber , the dealership agreed to bring its tire repair training up to industry standards. His appellate work includes Lane v. City of Sacramento (2010) 183 Cal.App.4th 1337, a published opinion that continues to protect Californians' right to sue public entities over dangerous property conditions.
