Melissa Newton, a 36-year-old mother of three, was killed in May 2019 when real estate broker Scott Gragson crashed his Range Rover while drunk in The Ridges, a gated Las Vegas community. Settlement documents filed in her family's wrongful-death suit put the payout at $21 million, with $12.8 million coming from Gragson personally and $8.2 million from his insurer. Gragson pleaded guilty to DUI causing death and DUI causing substantial bodily harm.

A Clark County jury awarded Ethan Volungis, a Pep Boys service manager, about $6.6 million for injuries from a July 2013 collision on West Lake Mead Boulevard in Las Vegas. The other driver, a neonatal pediatrician, had made an unsafe lane change into his car. About $1.5 million covered past and future medical expenses and about $5.1 million covered pain, suffering, disability and loss of enjoyment of life. The Nevada Supreme Court affirmed the judgment in 2019.

The Nevada Supreme Court reversed dismissal of personal injury and wrongful death claims brought by more than 100 Clark County Government Center employees and their families who developed cancer and other serious illnesses after working in a building erected on a former Union Pacific rail yard contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls.
