About Ward Clay

Ward S. Clay is a veteran trial attorney with decades of experience in both criminal defense and civil litigation. Over his career he has tried more than 57 jury trials to verdict, handled over 100 non-jury and juvenile court trials, and argued more than 130 criminal appeals, including six published decisions and two major conviction reversals in federal appellate courts. He served as a criminal prosecutor for the San Diego City Attorney's office and as a Certified Legal Specialist in Criminal Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization since 2001. He practiced criminal defense for more than 25 years and now brings those skills to wildfire litigation, personal injury, white-collar crime, and complex appellate matters. A cum laude graduate of UCLA and Loyola Law School, he was selected to Super Lawyers from 2008 to 2017.
