Gayle M. Blatt heads the firm's complex litigation practice group and concentrates on consumer class action, data breach, and serious personal injury cases. She joined CaseyGerry more than 30 years ago and has handled high-profile, multi-million-dollar cases including the Volkswagen diesel emissions litigation ($14.7 billion) and the Wells Fargo Collateral Protection Insurance class action. She has held leadership positions in data security class actions including Sony Gaming Networks, YAHOO! Inc. Data Breach (where she was the only California attorney on the Plaintiff's Executive Committee), Adkins v. Facebook, Waste Management Data Breach, Netgain Technology, and Warner Music Group. She has received three Outstanding Trial Lawyer awards from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, was named one of the Top Plaintiff's Lawyers in California and Top Women Lawyers in 2021 by the Daily Journal, and is listed annually in Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. In multidistrict litigation before Judge Andrew J. Guilford, CaseyGerry served as class counsel in a $393.5 million settlement resolving allegations that Wells Fargo secretly loaded unnecessary collateral protection insurance onto auto loan accounts, pushing hundreds of thousands of borrowers into delinquency and causing roughly 27,000 wrongful vehicle repossessions.
Gayle Blatt served on the five-member Plaintiffs' Executive Committee that secured a $117.5 million settlement in multidistrict litigation arising from the largest data breach in history, covering roughly 3 billion Yahoo accounts compromised between 2013 and 2016.
