About E. Merritt Lentz

E. Merritt Lentz is a Philadelphia-based trial lawyer who pursues catastrophic birth injury, medical malpractice, product liability, workplace accidents, dram shop liability, and dangerous premises cases. He focuses on children who suffered hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and other birth injuries resulting in cerebral palsy, as well as cases involving defective medical devices such as vacuums and forceps. He also represents victims of industrial accidents and takes on cases against the personal emergency response system (PERS) industry for failures that result in subscriber harm. He earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2002, graduating in the top 7% of his class (Heuisler Honor Society), and his B.A. from Randolph-Macon College in 1999 with majors in Economics and Business. His notable verdicts include a $183 million jury verdict in Philadelphia, the largest medical malpractice verdict in Pennsylvania history, and a $106 million verdict, the second-largest in that state.
