Coburn Burroughs

Coburn Burroughs is a native of South Louisiana, where he was born and raised in Houma. Following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he and his family relocated to the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, where he finished the remainder of his secondary education and met his future wife, Caroline. Burroughs went on to attend the University of North Carolina, Charlotte where he received his B.A. in Political Science. Shortly thereafter, he returned to his beloved home state of Louisiana where he attended Loyola University - New Orleans, College of Law. During his final year of law school, Burroughs clerked at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal of Louisiana with the Hon. Judge Fredericka H. Wicker.

Burroughs also spent his summers during his law school career in Asheville working in the Office of the Hon. Judge, Alan Z. Thornburg at the Buncombe County Superior Court in Asheville, as well as interning for Pisgah Legal Services, a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal aid to indigent clients, where he was awarded the ‘Lacoltrane Award’ for Exceptional Client Service. Burroughs was hired by Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys directly out of law school. He and his wife now reside in Shreveport, LA where his wife attends medical school at LSU Health Shreveport. Burroughs represents clients for injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and various other negligence matters.

Burroughs also represents families in wrongful death matters. Burroughs uses his background as a former collegiate wrestler to aggressively advocate for the rights of his injured clients and their families. Burroughs is an active member of the Shreveport community. He regularly volunteers at the Shreveport Bar Foundation Pro Bono Project’s Ask-A-Lawyer event, which is held on the third Monday of each month at the Shreveport Bar Association.

Burroughs also serves on the advisory board for the Acid Maltase Deficiency Association (AMDA), volunteering his time to advocate for the funding of research and treatment advancements for Pompe Disease, a glycogen storage disorder his younger sister, Morgan, was diagnosed with in 2000. Burroughs enjoys being able to give back to these organizations and utilize his knowledge to help others in any way he can. He is also proud to serve as an assistant wrestling coach at C.E. Byrd High School, where he has the opportunity to train and be a role model to young athletes in a sport he holds very dearly to his heart.
