About Scott Vorhees
Scott J. Vorhees is a Founding Partner of Johnson, Vorhees and Martucci and co-founded the firm alongside Roger Johnson in 2002. He earned a B.A. magna cum laude from Missouri Southern State College in 1996, completed a Police Academy certification at Missouri Southern in 1994, and received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000. Vorhees represents clients in cases involving car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, medical malpractice, wrongful death, dangerous premises, business litigation, and serious injury.
He co-tried Kendrick v. CoxHealth alongside Roger Johnson, resulting in a $34.1 million verdict in 2021. Vorhees has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell from 2013 through 2022, recognized among the American Institute of Personal Injury Lawyers' 10 Best, and honored by Missouri Lawyers Awards in 2022 for Top Plaintiffs' Verdicts. Proven verdicts and settlements
A Greene County jury awarded $34,107,628 to a boy who suffered permanent brain damage during his 2014 birth at Cox South hospital in Springfield, where escalating doses of the labor drug Pitocin deprived him of oxygen. It was the largest medical malpractice verdict in Missouri in 2021, and because the injury predated the state's 2015 damages cap statute, the noneconomic award stood without reduction.
