Emily Marks

Emily B. Marks, a partner at Kline & Specter, concentrates her practice on assisting those injured through medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, and sexual abuse. With more than a decade of experience, she has pursued justice for children who suffered sexual abuse and other injuries in foster care, institutional, and educational settings. Marks has secured millions of dollars in injury cases to help minors recover from abuse. Beyond monetary victories, she advocates passionately for child welfare reform and enhanced child protection rights.

Recent settlements include a $6 million resolution from Methodist Family Services of Philadelphia in February 2026 for a sexual assault victim; a $17.5 million settlement in March 2025 for three women trafficked at Philadelphia hotels; and a $9.4 million settlement in October 2024 for a trafficking victim. In February 2024, she won a $24.5 million arbitration award against North American Motor Inns for two human trafficking victims. A 2023 arbitration yielded $37.5 million against The North American Motor Inns for three trafficking victims, and she secured $24 million with Days Inn for eight trafficking victims. Earlier victories include a $5.05 million settlement in December 2021 for a girl sexually assaulted by her foster father; a $4.5 million jury verdict as co-counsel against the Defender Association of Philadelphia and Bethanna; an $11 million verdict in November 2017 as co-counsel; and a $5.35 million verdict in October 2016 against Presbyterian Children's Village.

She obtained $8.1 million for a baby injured at a drug treatment facility and $2.5 million for an infant injured at a foster care agency. She also secured a seven-figure settlement for two brothers sexually abused in foster care and won recognition for a case involving a child's eyelid laceration at a retailer. Marks has achieved numerous six-figure settlements, including cases for a woman sexually assaulted in a hospital and an elderly man who developed a stage IV pressure ulcer post-surgery. Named a Pennsylvania Rising Star by Super Lawyers for 2020 and 2021, she ranks among the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state age 40 and under.

She serves as a founding board member of Children First Action Fund, advocating for child health care, education, and family stability. A past Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors member, she previously chaired its Women in the Profession Committee and authored a resolution examining women's participation on executive boards in companies doing business with Philadelphia, adopted by the Board of Governors. She is a member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
