About F. Michael Hart

F. Michael Hart is a founding shareholder and owner of Martinez, Hart, Sanchez & Romero, P.C. His legal career began as a child abuse attorney for the New Mexico Department of Human Services (now CYFD). For over 30 years he has pursued claims for persons injured by negligence, wrongdoing, and abuse, with particular focus on crime victims and children who have suffered sexual abuse. His practice also covers personal injury from motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall injuries, and construction accidents.

Mike has been listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America since 2000 and has five times earned that organization's 'Lawyer of the Year' recognition for personal injury and civil rights. He has held the AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1998, and the New Mexico State Bar Association awarded him the Justice Pamela Minzner Professionalism Award in 2021. He has been ranked among the Top 25 Lawyers in New Mexico by Southwest Super Lawyers since 2019 and received the Outstanding Lawyer of the Year award from the Albuquerque Bar Association. He was an active leader on the team that pursued a class action against CYFD requiring institutional changes to protect children in foster care, and has served as a special prosecutor for the District Attorney's Office in the rape kit backlog cases.
