About Keith Mitnik

Keith Mitnik is Morgan & Morgan's senior trial counsel, the lawyer the firm sends into courtrooms across the country to try its toughest cases alongside other attorneys. A Eustis, Florida native who graduated magna cum laude from UCF and with honors from Florida State's law school in 1984, he joined the firm in 1997 after making partner within two years at his first firm. His verdicts include awards of $18.1 million, $27 million, $40 million, and a $90 million verdict that ranked as the seventh-largest in America in 2010. His high-profile docket has included the Backstreet Boys' suit against their former manager, the civil case against Casey Anthony, and the landmark "Tailwind" defamation case against CNN and Time, and he has been interviewed by Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes.

Morgan & Morgan trial lawyers Keith Mitnik and Gregory Prysock won a $90.8 million jury verdict against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco for Lyantie Townsend, whose husband Frank died of lung cancer after smoking since age 13. The award, $10.8 million compensatory plus $80 million punitive, was later reduced through appeals to a final judgment of $25.5 million, which stood.
