Francis J. Murphy

Frank Murphy is a trial attorney with more than 40 years of litigation experience. He has tried cases in all of the trial courts in Delaware, including the Superior Court, the Court of Chancery and the United States District Court, and holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV peer review rating. He was a lead trial attorney in the North American Philips and Hercules environmental insurance coverage actions, among the longest and most complex jury trials in Delaware history. In individual client matters he has resolved numerous wrongful death, medical malpractice, insurance bad faith, car accident and products liability cases, and has been recognized as one of the leading plaintiff medical malpractice attorneys in Delaware.

His verdicts include $2.4 million in Caldwell v. White and $2 million in Rowlands v. Lai (both medical malpractice) and $1.5 million in Fletcher v. Ratcliffe (auto accident). He is President-Elect of the Delaware State Bar Association, serves as Chief Attorney for the Delaware State Senate, and has been General Counsel to Delaware's Sustainable Energy Utility since 2007. He earned his B.A. with high honors from the University of Delaware and his J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law, and clerked in the Delaware Superior Court.
