About Grant Boyd
Grant Boyd is a plaintiff's attorney at O'Brien Law Firm, P.C. who represents victims of sexual abuse, violent crime, wrongful death, and personal injury. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and Psychology from Saint Louis University in 2010 and his Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2014, the same year he was admitted to the Missouri Bar. Boyd has also been admitted to numerous United States District Courts across the country. He has secured over $500 million in total recovery for crime and sexual abuse victims throughout his career.
Boyd served as co-counsel in the Batsell v. Richardson case, resulting in a $75 million verdict in St. Charles County in November 2023 for the family of a man killed when a driver fleeing police struck his vehicle. He also represented the plaintiff in G.T. v. McLaurie, in which a St. Charles County jury returned a $300 million judgment in 2024 for abuse that occurred while the plaintiff was a toddler. Boyd has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2017 through 2025 and received an Up and Coming Award from Missouri Lawyers Awards in 2025.
Proven verdicts and settlements
A St. Charles County judge entered a $300 million bench-trial judgment for a child, identified only as G.T., who was physically and sexually abused between the ages of three and five while in the care of Susan and James McLaurie, though one defendant died before the suit was filed and the only known insurance was a $303,000 policy.
A St. Charles County jury awarded $75 million, including $25 million in punitive damages, to the parents of Krystofer Batsell, a 21-year-old killed when a driver fleeing police at more than 100 mph crashed into his car. The defendant is serving a 15-year prison sentence for second-degree murder, and the judgment is effectively uncollectable.
