About Erin Schoenbeck Byre

Erin Schoenbeck Byre is a South Dakota native, born in Webster and raised in Watertown. She graduated with honors from Augustana University with degrees in government/international affairs and business administration. She then spent a year with AmeriCorps NCCC providing aid to communities affected by natural disasters before attending law school at the University of St. Thomas, where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected student body president.

She began her legal career clerking for Chief Justice Gilbertson and Justice Myren of the South Dakota Supreme Court. After her clerkship she practiced medical malpractice and legal malpractice defense, construction litigation, and criminal defense before transitioning to plaintiff-side work. She lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Wade.
