The Popham Law Firm secured a $57 million settlement on behalf of more than 1,700 Sprint employees who alleged the company's automated performance system unlawfully targeted workers over 40 during a series of mass layoffs, at the time the largest ADEA class settlement in the District of Kansas.

A Cass County jury awarded $10 million to the husband and eight daughters of Kathleen Miller, 62, who died after a pickup truck crossed the center line on Missouri Highway 52 and struck her vehicle head-on.

A Henry County jury awarded $9.04 million to the family of 75-year-old Sondra Murrell, who died when an oncoming driver crossed the centerline, and to her grandson, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in the same crash.

A Linn County jury returned a $9 million verdict for Audrey Ford, a motorcycle passenger whose right leg was amputated above the knee after a driver pulled into the path of the bike at a rural Missouri intersection.

On September 12, 2019, Jackson County Deputy Tyler Naudet fired five shots at a car in Independence, Missouri, killing Allen Cates, 29, who was wanted on a felony warrant. After a six-day trial, a Jackson County jury awarded Cates's two young sons $7 million on May 24, 2024, on a wrongful death claim based on battery. The Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, affirmed that award on March 10, 2026.

A Platte County jury returned an $8 million verdict for Jeff Bash, who suffered third-degree burns over nearly a quarter of his body when an antique car ignited while he was pouring fuel into the carburetor; after a 20% comparative-fault reduction the net judgment came to $6.4 million.

Tom Porto of The Popham Law Firm secured a $5 million settlement, approved by a Jackson County judge in April 2023 and reported as the largest in Kansas City Police Department history, for the family of Terrence Bridges Jr., an unarmed man fatally shot by Officer Dylan Pifer during a foot chase in 2019.

On September 12, 2019, Jackson County Deputy Tyler Naudet fired five shots at a car in Independence, Missouri, wounding passenger Randi McGaugh and killing the driver, Allen Cates. On May 24, 2024, a Jackson County jury awarded McGaugh $3 million on her negligence claim and assigned her one percent of the fault. On March 10, 2026, the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, reversed that verdict on official immunity grounds.

Robert Schroer of Kingsville, Missouri, suffered a mild traumatic brain injury with permanent cognitive impairment when a U.S. Postal Service cargo van crashed into his car on U.S. 50 in November 2022. His claim under the Federal Tort Claims Act settled for $3 million in July 2025, after the case was filed in the Western District of Missouri in January 2024.

A 13-year-old girl in Kansas foster care was sexually assaulted in 2018 while left unattended in the office of state contractor KVC Kansas, where an 18-year-old with a known history of sexually abusing others had also been placed. The Kansas Department for Children and Families and KVC each pointed at the other. A Wyandotte County District Court settlement requires the Kansas foster care system to pay $1.25 million.
