About Mark Boskovich
Mark J. Boskovich is a dedicated advocate for individuals and families affected by personal injury and sexual abuse. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 2010, graduating cum laude and receiving the Neufeld Scholar-Athlete Award for the highest GPA among UC Berkeley senior male student athletes. He then attended UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, graduating cum laude with a Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution concentration in 2014, placing in the top 15 percent of his class. Proven verdicts and settlements
A Marin County jury found Tamalpais Union High School District 100% negligent for its PE teacher and tennis coach's 2003 sexual abuse of a student, awarding the survivor $10 million, a verdict the district failed to overturn on appeal.
A developmentally disabled college student won a $7.6 million settlement after Raymond Ruiz, an instructional aide in Mission College's disability program, sexually assaulted her on campus in May 2020 while the district ignored longstanding warning signs about his conduct.
A Sonoma County jury found Becoming Independent, a Santa Rosa care nonprofit, negligent in hiring and supervising an in-home caregiver accused of sexually assaulting a 53-year-old man with the mental capacity of a five-year-old. The jury set total damages at $6 million and assigned 80 percent of fault to the agency, about $4.8 million. The caregiver's 20 percent share is moot because of his bankruptcy. The agency says it is evaluating appellate review.
Santa Clara County Superior Court approved a $4.6 million settlement against Sharks Sports and Entertainment after coach Kevin Whitmer serially abused a youth hockey player at Sharks Ice facilities.
A former Blossom Hill Elementary student sexually abused in 2008 and 2009 by fifth-grade teacher and community youth theater director Joseph Brian Houg received $4.2 million from the Los Gatos Union School District in October 2022. The claim alleged the district ignored at least 11 complaints about Houg between 2001 and 2020. The settlement came through mediation about two weeks before a scheduled trial. A second plaintiff, abused in 2020, received a separate $900,000 award.
