Charlie Finlayson

Charlie Finlayson is a Partner and Trial Lawyer at Claggett & Sykes Trial Lawyers, focusing on appellate law.

Finlayson earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 2011 and his Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University in 2008. He is admitted to the State Bar of Nevada, the State Bar of California, and the State Bar of Illinois.

Finlayson began his legal career as a staff attorney in the Nevada Supreme Court's criminal division, handling appeals and death penalty cases for seven years. He then worked at the Nevada Attorney General's Office defending criminal convictions. At Claggett & Sykes, he has handled appellate matters involving sexual assault, gun violence, and racial discrimination in jury selection. Chief Justice James W. Hardesty described him as one of the most skilled legal writers in the appellate system. He serves on the Nevada Supreme Court Commission on Nevada Rules of Appellate Procedure, as Vice Chair of Nevada Lawyer magazine, and on the board of Northern Nevada Legal Aid.
