Pete Rutter

Peter John 'Pete' Rutter is an Attorney at DJC Law in Austin, Texas, with 28 years of trial experience. He joined the firm in 2021 and handles complex plaintiffs' personal injury matters — including auto accidents, premises liability, company vehicle and trucking collisions, and workplace injuries. He has managed thousands of cases through resolution and tried more than 150 cases to jury verdict.

Rutter began his legal career in Tyler, Texas, focusing on litigation and trial defense for individuals and companies. Before law school, he was a standout Baylor University football player from 1986 to 1990, earning All-Southwest Conference honors for three consecutive years and honorable mention All-American recognition before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rutter earned his B.B.A. in Finance from Baylor University and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law. He has been licensed in Texas since 1994 and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas. He maintains a farm outside Mexia, Texas, where he raises longhorn cattle and chickens with his son.
