A 36-year-old woman suffered bilateral ureter damage and bladder perforation during a laparoscopic hysterectomy, developed acute renal failure, and settled her malpractice claim in Fredericksburg Circuit Court for $1.5 million.

A 66-year-old man in a Virginia hospital, awaiting discharge, slipped on a floor a contractor's housekeeper had just mopped and struck his head while holding an IV pole. He suffered a skull fracture and subdural hematoma and was removed from life support the next day. His family sued the hospital and the contractor that employed the housekeeper in Fredericksburg Circuit Court. The claim settled at mediation on May 22, 2024 for $1.5 million.

A 36-year-old woman had an abdominal hysterectomy for chronic pelvic pain and a complex ovarian cyst. Her gynecologist sutured the entire posterior wall of the bladder into the closure of the vaginal cuff and did not recognize it before ending the operation. She needed emergency surgery, a fistula repair and repeated Botox injections, and was left with permanently reduced bladder capacity. The Fredericksburg Circuit Court case settled for $1.2 million on April 23, 2024.
