About Silvia Ruiz

Silvia Ruiz is an associate at Kherkher Garcia originally from Bucaramanga, Colombia, who moved to Houston in 2003. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Sociology in 2012 and earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2017. She began her legal career at a leading human rights organization in Colombia, led advocacy projects before the Constitutional Court, then spent five years in Houston representing unaccompanied immigrant youth victims of abuse and trafficking before immigration courts, family courts, and federal agencies.

Her transition to personal injury litigation brings the same commitment to supporting people in difficult circumstances to cases against powerful institutions. Silvia is admitted in Texas and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She applies a trauma-informed and culturally competent approach to each client.
