About Shawn Sukumar

Shawn Sukumar is a partner at Price Benowitz LLP with more than 10 years of criminal defense experience in D.C. Superior and Federal District Courts. His practice areas include DUI (from misdemeanor to felony), drug possession, marijuana charges, assault, domestic violence, weapons violations, theft-related offenses (burglary, robbery), prostitution, and solicitation, as well as record expungement.

Sukumar earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law and his Bachelor's degree with honors from George Washington University. He is admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia.

Sukumar previously worked at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia (trial division), handling sexual assault, drug, and gun cases, as well as the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council, the Georgia Capital Defender, and the Clark County Public Defender's Office Murder Division in Las Vegas, Nevada. He volunteers as a D.C. Bar Landlord Tenant Pro Bono attorney. His honors include selection to the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, a 10/10 Avvo rating, and Super Lawyer designation.
