About Laura Ramos James

Laura Ramos James is the Founder and Sole Owner of Ramos James Law, PLLC in Austin, Texas, an injury law firm she opened in 2018. With well over a decade of trial experience, she has handled hundreds of cases involving auto and trucking accidents, drunk and distracted driving, commercial vehicle collisions, work injuries, product liability, Texas Health Care Liability claims, sexual assault cases, complex construction accidents and defects, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death.

A personal injury victim herself, Ramos James founded her firm with the goal of being a 'loud and fierce voice' for those who could not speak for themselves. She has obtained substantial verdicts on behalf of her clients, including a recent $1,273,000 jury verdict in a premises liability case against a Hyatt Hotel.

Ramos James has been recognized broadly by the legal and Austin communities. She was named a 2025 'Changemaker' by Austin Woman Magazine, won the 2023 'Woman's Way' Award from the same publication, received the Latina Foundation's 'Advocacy and Activism' Award, has been named a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star for five consecutive years, listed on the Up-and-Coming 100 Texas Rising Stars and Up-and-Coming 50 Women Texas Rising Stars in both 2023 and 2024, named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Top 40 Under 40, named America's Top 100 Attorneys High Stakes Litigator (2020), and ranked #1 by Austin Monthly among Personal Injury Attorneys in 2022 and 2023. She holds lifetime memberships in the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forums and was named 'Woman Leader of the Year' by AMHIGA in 2022.

Ramos James earned her undergraduate degree with honors from St. Mary's University in San Antonio — accomplished after only recently learning English — and her J.D. with honors from Baylor Law School, which is ranked second in the nation for its trial advocacy program. She is admitted to all Texas state courts and to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity Committee of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Travis County Women Lawyers Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, and the Mexican-American Association of Texas. She is a two-time Amazon best-selling author, contributing to 'Law Moms: Juggling Motherhood, Ambition, and Personal Fulfillment' and 'Point Taken: Brilliant Business Advice from Women at the Top.'
