Robert Ross co-founded Ross Feller Casey in 2006 after having been a partner at Cohen, Shapiro, Polisher, Shiekman and Cohen; Fox Rothschild; and Kline & Specter. In three decades as a catastrophic injury lawyer, his work has resulted in more than half a billion dollars in verdicts and settlements for clients. Among his most notable victories: a $44.1 million verdict for a woman who suffered a brain injury from a medication error at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, which was the largest medical malpractice verdict in Pennsylvania in 2016; a $51 million verdict (as co-counsel) for a boy whose foot was torn off by a defective subway escalator; a $22 million verdict for a woman who suffered cardiac arrest and brain damage after blood transfusion delays during childbirth in New Jersey; and a $20.8 million verdict for a podiatrist whose foot was amputated due to an undiagnosed hospital infection. Ross is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the latter of which is limited to 500 attorneys nationwide. He served on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's Civil Procedural Rules Committee. He is a member of the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and New Jersey bar associations.
Notable case results
A Philadelphia jury awarded Andrea Tate $44.1 million after the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania stopped monitoring her blood-clotting levels mid-treatment, allowing heparin to build to a dangerous concentration that caused a massive brain hemorrhage following routine tumor surgery.
Ross Feller Casey secured a $6.25 million settlement for Terrance Lewis, a Philadelphia man who spent more than 21 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of a 1996 West Philadelphia murder based on withheld exculpatory evidence.
