About James Burkhalter

James D. Burkhalter is a personal injury trial lawyer in the Houston office of Sico Hoelscher Harris LLP, where he handles catastrophic personal injury and death cases nationally, with a particular interest in drunk driving and commercial vehicle accident cases. He grew up near Cedar Creek Lake in East Texas and, while at university, worked in the Special Litigation Division of the Texas Attorney General's Office under then Attorney General Greg Abbott, an experience that inspired his legal career. Before joining the firm, he worked at a Houston personal injury firm where he assisted more than 1,000 injured clients. Burkhalter earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and both his J.D. and an LL.M. from the University of Houston Law Center, and he studied European Union law at University College Dublin and Bangor College. He is licensed in Texas and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas.
