About Meagan Hassan

Meagan Hassan joined the Houston office of Sico Hoelscher Harris LLP in February 2025 after serving six years as an Associate Justice on the Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, from January 2019 through December 2024. Before taking the bench, she was a partner at a constitutional rights firm, where she secured two Fifth Circuit precedents concerning the recording of police and judicial review of medical board subpoenas, and she was recognized in the Texas Lawyers' Verdicts Hall of Fame for a record-setting cyber-defamation verdict. Her practice includes civil rights, employment discrimination, administrative law, defamation, and appellate matters.

Hassan teaches continuing legal education courses on artificial intelligence in legal practice, civil rights, grand jury procedure, and appellate practice, and has guest lectured at the University of Houston Law Center, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and South Texas College of Law. She earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Rutgers University, her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law, and a Certificate in Law and AI from the Berkeley Law Artificial Intelligence Institute in 2023. She is admitted in Texas, New York, and Maryland, before multiple federal district courts, the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
