Michael Schmeltzer

Michael Schmeltzer is a Partner at Slater & Zurz LLP with nearly two decades of legal experience. He joined the firm in 2014. His practice focuses on personal injury, catastrophic injury, construction accidents, trucking and motorcycle collisions, product liability, and wrongful death.

Schmeltzer earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Kent State University and his Juris Doctor from The University of Akron School of Law.

He is Martindale-Hubbell AV-Rated (the highest peer rating), has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star (2012-2018), as one of the National Trial Lawyers' Top 40 Under 40 (2016-2018), and on the Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers list (2019-present). He received the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce 30 for the Future Award in 2015.

Schmeltzer is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a member of The National Trial Lawyers, and served as Representative-at-Large of the Ohio Association for Justice (2013-2016). He is a board member and Vice President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Summit County and serves as a certified Ski Patroller providing emergency medical services.
