About Neil Umsted

J. Neil Umsted is an experienced trial attorney based in Memphis, Tennessee, with more than a decade of litigation experience, currently part of TopDog Law SE, PLLC (formerly Keller Swan PLLC). He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis School of Law in 2008. He began his legal career in criminal law, representing individuals facing serious charges, and previously served as a Senior Felony Assistant in the Shelby County District Attorney General's office, where he was primarily responsible for prosecuting homicides and high-level felonies and served as lead counsel on many jury trials involving violent crimes. After more than ten years as both a criminal defense attorney and prosecutor, he transitioned in 2021 to personal injury litigation, focusing on automobile and truck accidents, premises liability, and other personal injury cases.
