About Edward Harney Jr.

Originally hailing from the Region, Edd joined the Firm in 1993 after receiving his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Valparaiso University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University in 1990. Edd has been a partner at Hume Smith Geddes Green & Simmons, LLP since 1998, and became Managing Partner in 2014. Edd has achieved an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a widely-known and nationally recognized publication which polls the performance of attorneys throughout the United States. Edd has also been selected by his peers as an Indiana Super-Lawyer, an honor awarded to only 5% of the practicing attorneys in Indiana and was named a Distinguished Life Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.

Edd focuses his legal practice on civil trial work and business law. In his trial work, Edd has represented clients in a wide array of civil tort matters including automobile collisions, premises and products liability, liquor liability, environmental issues, mass tort litigation and business transactions. Edd is also actively involved with numerous first party and third party insurance disputes and routinely provides coverage opinions to insurers and businesses.

For his business clients, Edd assists in selecting and forming their corporate entities as well as in their general business needs, including business counseling, contracts, leasing and employment issues and litigation. In addition to work at the trial level, Edd has represented numerous clients before the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court and Seventh Circuit and has successfully participated in the many reported decisions. Edd is a member of the of the Sagamore American Inn of Court as well as the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana.
