About Kate Mercer-Lawson

Kate Mercer-Lawson is a seasoned trial lawyer with more than a decade of experience litigating high-stakes matters around the country. She has served as national trial counsel to corporations before transitioning to plaintiffs' work, and now focuses on asbestos exposure and sexual abuse cases. She describes herself as passionate about justice, service, and grace.

Kate earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry and religious studies from Indiana University as a Wells Scholar, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to complete both a Master of Health Administration and a Juris Doctor at Indiana University, again summa cum laude. While in law school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Law Review.

Following law school, Kate served four years in the federal judiciary: two years as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker and two years as law clerk to U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Jerome A. Holmes. She also taught judicial politics and criminal law at Indiana University.

Kate spent a decade at a nationally recognized Colorado law firm, where she became a partner. Over her career she has taken and defended hundreds of depositions, argued motions in trial and appellate courts, secured winning jury verdicts, and supervised attorneys across multiple jurisdictions. She is admitted to practice in New York, Florida, Indiana, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Utah.
