About Benedict Morelli
Benedict Morelli began his career in 1973 as a law clerk in a personal injury firm and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1977, eventually becoming senior partner of that firm. In June 1998 he started Benedict P. Morelli & Associates, which later became Morelli Law Firm. Over more than four decades of trying cases he has won record verdicts across many case types: a $102 million jury award in 2019 for Mark Perez, a worker who fell from a height at Live Nation's Jones Beach Theater (the appellate court later sustained the largest pain and suffering award for a traumatic brain injury in New York history); a $95 million verdict in 2011, the largest single-plaintiff sexual harassment verdict in U.S. history; a $22.5 million polio vaccine verdict, the largest vaccine verdict in U.S. history; and a $41 million wrongful death verdict against the City of New York.
He represented comedian Tracy Morgan in his 2015 case against Wal-Mart after a tractor trailer crash. Mr. Morelli studied law at New York Law School and is admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of New York, and the New York state courts. He is a past president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America continuously since 1997.
