About Hassan Murphy

Hassan Murphy has served as managing partner of Murphy Falcon & Murphy since 1999. He earned his B.A. from Williams College in 1990 and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1994. After graduation he joined Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle in New York, where he worked on complex international transactions and corporate mergers, handling matters including a $4.7 billion takeover, a $65 million corporate asset sale, and a $500 million securitization. In 1998 he left corporate law to join the firm and help defend boxing promoter Don King against international wire fraud charges.

He has since built a record of leading counsel and co-lead counsel roles in cases producing more than $300 million in combined settlements and verdicts. Notable outcomes include a $54 million environmental settlement against Constellation Power Source Generation for fly ash contamination in Gambrills, Maryland (obtained without filing suit), representation of the Equifax multidistrict consumer class action, and representation of the families of Freddie Gray and Terrence Sterling. He was named National Trial Lawyer of the Year by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice in 2002 and one of Maryland's Top 50 Most Influential Marylanders by The Daily Record in 2011.

Hassan Murphy co-led the class action against Constellation Energy after fly ash from a coal plant fouled private drinking wells in a Gambrills neighborhood, producing a $54 million package that connected affected homes to public water and established a $9.5 million resident trust fund.
