Malcolm Ruff

Malcolm P. Ruff is a trial attorney and associate at Murphy Falcon & Murphy. He attended Duke University, where he played football for the Blue Devils and earned a B.A. in African and African American Studies, then obtained his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2012. He began his legal career as an Assistant State's Attorney in both Baltimore County and Baltimore City before joining a private firm as a senior associate focused on personal injury and criminal defense, and joined Murphy Falcon & Murphy in January 2018. His practice focuses on police brutality, personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and criminal defense.

He co-led the team representing the family of William Green, who was killed by Prince George's County Corporal Michael Owen, securing a $20 million settlement that matched the largest-ever settlement for a police brutality act in the United States. He won a $4,156,000 jury verdict (including punitive damages) in a premises liability case in June 2024. He has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and the Baltimore Business Journal 40 Under 40, and has been selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for Maryland. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Monumental City Bar Association, and serves on the Gilman School Board of Trustees.
