About Kenneth Watkins
Over the course of my career, I have been honored to have obtained numerous multimillion-dollar settlements on behalf of clients, all of whom I have been proud to represent. In coordination with my work as an advocate, I am passionate about contributing to my community, particularly in ways that support youth and educational initiatives. Ken is dedicated to serving the local community as well and is noted for his engagement with others needing help. He has spoken on numerous occasions at the Detroit Public School Career Days, and serves on the board of Directors for Urban Solutions, Inc., that provides yearly scholarships to inner-city youths. He was also a charter member and trustee for the Motor City Optimist Club that helps area youth via organizational empowerment and community activities. He served as co-president of the Brother Rice High School Dad's Club, participating on the board of Directors for three years.

A class settlement with Michigan Pain Specialists resolved claims of 311 patients and survivors of the 2012 fungal meningitis outbreak traced to contaminated steroid injections. It was reached in Livingston County Circuit Court in March 2016. The $10.5 million is a single class figure that the sources do not itemise by patient. Robert B. Sickels of Sommers Schwartz PC sat on the three-attorney plaintiffs' steering committee for Michigan.
After two federal jury verdicts found that Frankenmuth violated the Loesel family's equal-protection rights by passing a zoning ordinance designed to block a Walmart land sale, the city settled for $3.7 million in November 2014.
On April 25, 2014, a Saginaw County jury returned a $1,612,269 verdict for Debra Cameron and her husband, Hugh, against family physician James V. Bodrie, M.D. The jury found he failed to pursue a cardiac workup despite months of symptoms and a chest X-ray showing an enlarged heart, and that Ms. Cameron suffered a major heart attack days later. The award included $262,268.86 in medical expenses, with the rest for non-economic damages, and the vote was 6-2. Michigan's 2014 cap on non-economic damages in malpractice cases limits that portion to $440,200, so the most that could stand was about $702,469, and no appeal was filed.
