About William Hawal

William Hawal has been affiliated with Spangenberg Shibley & Liber since 1980, serving as a partner for over four decades and transitioning to Of Counsel in 2023. He litigates complex matters involving medical misdiagnosis, medical procedures, defective medical devices and drugs, civil rights, legal malpractice, and injuries from defective industrial and consumer products. He has particular depth in birth injury cases involving cerebral palsy caused by oxygen deprivation at delivery and in product liability cases covering defective drugs, helicopter components, automobiles, farm equipment, and industrial machines.

Bill played a central role in the Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agent MDL, conducting much of the discovery for over 600 cases against GE Healthcare Inc. He also litigated against opioid distributors in the consolidated MDL before Judge Polster. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1980 and his B.A. from Ohio University in 1976.
