David Skall

David W. Skall's interest in helping medical malpractice and personal injury victims started early in life. His mother passed away from breast cancer during his childhood, and his family believed her doctor should have detected the cancer sooner. That experience shaped his view of how the law can help people whose lives have been changed by the mistakes of others. After earning his Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University in 1993, David attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law, served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable John M. Manos, and received his Juris Doctor in 1997.

He was admitted to the Ohio Bar that year and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio the following year. Following law school, David joined a small personal injury firm for immediate trial experience. He then spent seven years at a large Cleveland-area firm defending hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and medical-device makers in alleged malpractice cases, gaining expert trial training in matters involving serious injuries.

In 2008, he joined a Virginia firm representing injured railroad workers nationwide. After several trial successes in that practice, he and his family returned to Ohio and he joined The Becker Law Firm in 2012. David has since tried some of the most complex medical negligence cases in Ohio, including a $13.5 million jury verdict in Akron for a child who suffered a brain injury at birth.
