Daniel Barks

Daniel D. Barks is in his 30th year of law practice and has focused almost exclusively on aviation law, acting as lead counsel in cases filed across the United States. A former Naval Aviator, he flew the A-6E Intruder attack aircraft on active duty from 1985 to 1991, served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, continued in the Navy Reserves for over a decade, and still maintains his pilot licenses and certifications. He earned his B.S. in Political Science from the University of Tennessee and his J.D. with honors from the University of South Carolina in 1996.

Where he studied products liability under Professor David G. Owen. Since 1996 he has led and managed over 50 litigations in the United States and abroad, including Federal Tort Claims Act cases involving air traffic control negligence, and served as co-lead counsel in the Sutherland Springs mass shooting litigation in Texas. He has argued appeals in the Eleventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Supreme Court of Louisiana, is licensed in Georgia, Virginia, and New York, and is a past Chair of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section committee on Aviation and Space.
